What is an Electric Cooler?
An
electric cooler is a portable device that can cooler, freeze, or warm
your items. They are generally powered by a 12 volt (vehicle's accessory
socket) or a 110 volt (household socket) power supply and range in size
from an easy-to-carry 14 quart cooler to a high capacity 84 quart
cooler. Electric coolers are commonly used for tailgating, camping,
boating, and medical transport. It is important to note that electric coolers must be completely protected from water.
Types of Electric Coolers
-
Thermoelectric Coolers
connect to a 12 or 100 volt power supply and will cool your items up to
40° below the exterior temperature. Therefore, the cooling capability
of a thermoelectric cooler is completely dependent on the temperature it
is surrounded by (if it is 90ºF outside your thermoelectric cooler will
cool to about 50ºF).
-
Compressor Based Electric Coolers feature
a variable temperature thermostat that allows it to maintain a constant
temperature as long as its connected to a power supply (generally a 12
or 100 volt). Therefore, you can control whether or not you want your
electric cooler to cool, freeze, or even warm your items no matter what
the exterior temperature. Please note that while cooler temperatures are
variable, the heating temperature is normally fixed.
Why Should I Invest in an Engel Electric Cooler?
Engel electric
coolers use a patented swing compressor that was specifically designed
for a portable refrigeration device. The compressor's simple design is
made up of only one moving part which makes the cooler extremely quiet
and efficient. Between Engel's durable exterior design and efficient
interior design which is made to withstand vibrations, this electric
cooler is built for travel. For more technical specifications, visit our
