3 Steps to Maximize Ice Chest Performance
In this guide you will learn three basic steps that
will help you get the most out of your high performance ice chest. By
following these simple steps, you are guaranteed to get the best
performance from your ice chest:
Step #1. Pre Chill
The
thick insullation of a high performance ice chest allows it to preserve
the temperature of its contents. Therefore, if you start out with a
warm ice chest the ice will burn up faster in an attempt to cool down
the insullation. In order to get the best performance from your ice
chest, keep it in a cool place before using or fill it with ice prior to
your trip. When you begin loading the ice chest, make sure the items
you are loading are pre-chilled so your ice isn't burned up trying to
cool down the warm items.
Step #2: Minimize Air Space
If
you minimize the amount of air space in your ice chest, you will allow
ice to burn off slower. If space is left open, ice is burned off more
quickly in an attempt to cool down the empty space. Try to fill the
empty space with additional ice or insulation like towels.
Step #3: Minimize Opening
If
you need your ice chest to last for an extended period of time, try to
minimize the number of times you open the chest. The more you open the
ice chest, the faster ice will be burned off. If you are planning an
extended trip or long weekend at the tailgate, consider taking two ice
chests...use the first ice chest during the beginning of your trip and
leave the second chest sealed until you need to use it.
