Compare Hitch Racks

Hitch racks are a versatile and affordable way to carry your gear. Although some manufacturers may rate their rack capacities at up to 500 pounds, we recommend no more than 250 pounds of gear to stay within the most common hitch and vehicle tongue weight capacities. Most hitch racks are fixed or fold up for transport, but StowAway offers a cargo rack that swings out for clear access to the rear of your vehicle. A cargo bag can be used along with a hitch rack to keep your gear protected from the elements.

Dimensions
Refers to the physical dimensions of the cargo rack. Dimensions are listed as length x width x height.
Capacity
Refers to the maximum amount of gear the rack can support. The maximum capacity you will be able to carry in the rack depends on your vehicle's tongue weight capacity, not the capacity of the rack. To find out your vehicle's tongue weight capacity, see our guide "How to Measure Tongue Weight Capacity.
Hitch Size
Refers to what type of hitch receiver the hitch cargo rack will fit into, either 1.25" or 2" hitch.
Folds or
Swings
Refers to whether or not the rack folds or swings out. Folding racks can be tilted up when not in use to improve rear-vehicle clearance. Swingaway cargo racks provide clear access to the rear of your vehicle by swinging up to 180° away from the vehicle.
Includes
Refers to the accessories that are included with the purchase of a hitch cargo rack. Common hitch cargo rack accessories include hitch locks. Hitch locks are used to lock the hitch cargo rack to your hitch.
