Hitch Selection Guide
When selecting a hitch receiver, it is important to match the class of the receiver to the size of your vehicle. Hitch receivers come in 5 classes: I, II, III, IV, V. The higher the class of the receiver, the larger its towing capacity. Also, in general, the higher the hitch class, the larger the tow vehicle should be. Smaller vehicles (sedans and station wagons) will use smaller hitches; larger vehicles (trucks, RVs) will use larger hitches. Use the following chart from Curt Hitches to get an idea of what size hitch receiver will work on your vehicle.
