The patented Stowaway2 Swingaway frame is our most popular frame, offering full access to the rear of most SUVs, vans, minivans, RVs and trucks equipped with a 2" trailer hitch. If your vehicle has a 1.25" trailer hitch, please see the LT Swingaway frame (shown below).
-- Heavy-Duty Steel Construction: The heaviest frame on the market -- weighing 48 pounds -- the Swingaway frame features thick-walled steel tubing to maximize box stability.
-- Swing Arm: Our unique design allows the swing arm to pivot a full 180 degrees to the passenger side. The frame swings back and away from the vehicle for maximum accessibility to the rear of your vehicle.
-- High-Rise Design: For maximum ground clearance, the Swingaway frame features a rise that puts the bolting platform 8.5 inches above the bottom of your vehicle’s trailer hitch.
-- Bolting Platform: Features four bolting locations for easy-on/easy-off box attachment. Also features rear side reinforcements to distribute the weight of your gear.
-- Primary Safety: The Swingaway frame is equipped with a double-locking system. The primary safety is screwed in for an unmistakably tight fit.
--Backup Safety: The backup safety is located next to the pivot point and serves two purposes: to act as a backup safety when the frame is in the closed position and to lock the frame in the open position at 90 degrees for easy trunk loading/unloading.
-- A Hitch Coupling Tightener is included free with every Swingaway frame to reduce side-to-side wobble when the carrier is in use.
A hitch pin is included with every Swingaway frame which will secure the frame into your vehicle’s hitch. We highly recommend upgrading to a Locking Hitch Pin which will key-lock your frame to your vehicle’s hitch for maximum security (shown below).
