Specialty Bike Racks
The best thing about bike racks? They come in all shapes and sizes. The following bike racks listed below are the rarer breeds, those used for speciality purposes.
There are a number of different types of specialty bike racks listed on this page: Ladder Mount Bike Racks, Spare Tire Mount Bike Racks, and Tow Bar Mount Bike Racks, to name a few. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find out the ideal situation to use each type of Bike Rack.
When to use a Ladder Mount Bike Rack?
If your RV has a ladder and you use your trailer hitch for towing (or you don't have a trailer hitch), consider attaching a ladder mount bike rack to your RV ladder for easy (and affordable) bike transportation.
When to use a Spare Tire Bike Rack?
If your SUV or jeep has a rear mounted spare tire, you might consider mounting a Thule, Yakima or Surco Spare Tire rack directly to the spare tire for a simple bike carrying solution.
When to use a Tow Bar Mount Bike Rack?
Do you use your hitch to tow a trailer? If so, a tow bar mount bike rack is perfect if you need to bring bicycles along when you travel. Simply mount the tow bar rack around your trailer's tow bar. The bike rack will extend a few feet above your tow bar, allowing plenty of room to attach your bikes.
