Bike Racks
Choosing a bike rack can be a lot of work, particularly if you aren't sure which style will work best for you. To help with your purchasing decision we have divided bike racks into four main categories.
-
Hitch Bike Racks - Most common bike rack. This option does require that you have a receiver hitch installed on your vehicle, which can cost $140 to $200 if you don't have already have one. Will hold up to 5 bikes and most models either tilt down or swing out for access to the rear of your vehicle.
-
Roof Bike Racks - Good option for small cars. This option mounts to a roof base rack which will cost $250 to $400 if you don't already have one installed. Offered in a fork mount style with the front wheel removed and an upright style with the wheels on the bike.
-
Trunk Mount Bike Racks - Lowest cost option. Requiring nothing but a clear trunk, this option starts as low as $59.00. Carries up to 4 bikes.
-
Specialty Bike Racks - Racks that mount to spare tires, ladders, tow bars, etc. These are ideal for RV's where the hitch is being used to tow a car or trailer and the roof is simply too high to access.
If you don't have a strong style preference try our Bike Rack Finder to preview your choices under different scenarios.
